Pregnancy and postpartum are not meant to be solo journeys. In fact, research shows that having support during these times leads to less postpartum anxiety. Fortunately, there are many local resources you can lean on to learn, stay connected and honor yourself. Below are a few gems I have come across in my work.

Annemaria Yoga: Workshops and classes tailored to the needs of prenatal and postpartum women. The founder, Annemaria, is a gem and is truly committed to helping women during these intense periods of their lives.
Baby Bootcamp of Oakland: Outdoor fitness classes held Mondays-Thursday mornings at Lake Temescal and led by Mary McQueen. Mary is so spunky, and cares deeply about women getting back into shape safely post-baby.
Glow – Massage therapy specifically for prenatal and postpartum women in a sophisticated, spa-like setting. The founder of Glow, Sara, is a sociologist by training and everything she touches is inspired by the power of human connection.
Alisa Nowik Stern, PsyD: Support for new moms, families, and even kids. Alisa has a passion for working with women and children – and she does home visits!
Yoga Malm: Private yoga classes for prenatal and postnatal women, as well as birth and postnatal doula services. Hanna has a very calming presence (side note – I took several prenatal yoga classes with her!)
Urban Homestead Doula: Birth doula services. Elyse has a wonderful way of connecting with people and she cares deeply about providing the best service to her mamas to be.
Then Comes Baby: A wonderful organization offering various classes and workshops for parents to be and new moms. Topics include breastfeeding, childbirth prep, yoga, sleep for infants, infant CPR, and more. TCB also offers pump rentals.
